Redmond City Hall
Redmond, WA
Landscape architecture for Redmond's new city hall adjacent to the Sammamish River.
Redmond City Hall is on a six-acre portion of the full municipal campus and includes a civic plaza, native plantings, on-site storm water treatment, parking and regional trail access. The project is located in downtown Redmond adjacent to the Sammamish River and is targeted for LEED Silver certification.
The landscape design provides multiple functions that enhance both the physical presence of Redmond City Hall and the natural environment. Bioswales are used to filter water runoff from the building's roof and parking lot so that impact on the Sammamish River is minimized. A reflecting pool helps City Hall connect back to the river with native plants and strategic views. Recycled wood creates a terraced deck along the building's western façade that draws visitors toward the Sammamish River Trail.
