Architecture and urban design for a multimodal ferry terminal.
As the new gateway to the San Juan Islands, this project establishes efficient vehicular and pedestrian circulation while preserving mountain and Sound views. Plan elements include the assessment of existing conditions and the evaluation of alternative configurations for more efficient holding, staging, circulation and transit connections.
The facility provides a sensitive integration of the multimodal transit functions into the stunning natural setting. Project components include:
* Waiting and concessions areas for passengers
* An efficient, automated passenger boarding system
* Connections for transit, taxi and private vehicles
* Parking and a holding area for vehicles
The facility is pursuing LEED Silver certification.
